Asana uses the name AI Teammates for prebuilt agents that work alongside a team inside its projects, drawing on the shared memory and context of Asana's Work Graph1. They are the closest match to the term inside a work-management tool, and the furthest from an AI employee that customers can reach.

Best for: Teams that already plan their work in Asana and want AI teammates to pick up project, content and request work inside it.

Not the right fit for: Customer-facing work by email or phone, or companies that do not use Asana.

What Asana AI Teammates do

Asana lists more than 30 prebuilt teammates, including a project manager, a content writer, an insights analyst, a compliance manager and an IT request agent, and lets teams build their own by defining a role, guidance, skills and access1. Teammates can search, read and write across more than ten connected apps, including Gmail, Slack, HubSpot and Databricks. A project analyser recommends which teammate suits a project.

Access follows a team's existing Asana permissions, teammates follow the boundaries a team sets for data access and sharing, and admins choose who can create, modify and collaborate with them. Asana states that neither it nor its AI partners use customer data to train models1.

AI Teammates are included on the Starter, Advanced, Enterprise and Enterprise+ plans, with five requests per user a month, capped at 50 per account on Starter and Advanced and 250 on Enterprise plans. Audit logs are listed on Enterprise+2.
